Additionally, we work closely with the Veterans American Job Center of California to provide referrals that maximize available benefits, services, training, and educational opportunities for Veterans and their families.
DESCRIPTIONOur Veterans (AJCC) team is looking for a Career Coach to conduct eligibility determination of Veterans for the Veterans (AJCC) as well as other available programs.
The primary role of the Career Coach is to provide comprehensive case management including employability assessment, transferable skills assessment, employment and training plan development, job development, and referrals to other social service programs (as needed).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCoach Veterans on appropriate civilian and business workplace culture.
Facilitate job readiness workshops and provide training in various job readiness skills.
Research career paths that would utilize Veterans' existing skills.
Assist clients in writing targeted resumes.
Responsible for client progress and job placement/wages/retention.
Track client data in internal and State databases through data entry and comprehensive case notes.
Must meet contract goals for job placement, training completion, and job retention.
Develop working relationships with other agencies that provide services to Veterans.
Will also work as part of a team in developing new grants and funding opportunities.
Other duties are assigned as needed for the efficient operation of the Center/Program.
Must meet weekly, monthly, quarterly & yearly program goals as set by the Operations Manager.
Outreach may be required in various parts of the Greater Los Angeles area to recruit eligible Veterans and eligible spouses for various JVS SoCal Veteran Services programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must be able to do the following:
stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods; bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions; climb up and down stairs; bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials; pull, push, and lift; reach both above and below shoulder height.
Specific visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to visually inspect work.
Manual dexterity to operate computer and other office equipment required.
Travel to employer and client work sites is frequent.
May be required to work some evenings and an occasional weekend day.
Requires traveling to various business and other work sites as well.

RequirementsThe successful applicant will have a passion to work and connect with Veterans.
Other requirements include:
A strong customer service and counseling expertise with the ability to multi-task is required.
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to write professional resumes utilizing client's military and non-military transferable skills.
Must know and understand active-duty Military life, the labor market, technology-based career search methods, social media, employer and business needs and requirements.
Needs to understand and teach the value of networking.
Timeliness and attention to detail are essential.
Must take initiative; must think outside the box and at the same time be able to work as part of a team towards unit goals.
Knowledge of WIOA's common measures and requirements is very helpful.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must be assertive, friendly, and willing to work flexible hours to meet objectives and goals.
BA in Business, Social Service, or related degree preferred.
Education may be substituted with experience.
Individuals with a background and experience in Case Management and/or Career Counseling preferred.
Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
Prior WIOA and/or VEAP experience a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
